Our pharmacy has its own dedicated entrance located to the right of the courtyard entrance of UCSB Student Health Service. Our pharmacists are available to discuss safe storage, dosage instructions, potential side effects, and any other questions you may have about your medication.

We accept UC SHIP insurance exclusively. If you have outside insurance, you can pay the full amount at the time of purchase and seek reimbursement directly from your insurer. Patients without UC SHIP can also choose to pay out-of-pocket.

If you need someone else to pick up your medication on your behalf, please contact the SHS Pharmacy at 805-893-2116 or send us a secure message through the MyHealth portal to authorize the pickup.
The best way to refill your prescription is online.
ONLINE through the Patient Portal Gateway :
- Login with your UCSB username and password
- (On the Home Page) Click Secure Messages
- Click on the top Compose New Message
- Click Pharmacy Services then Click Prescription Refill Request
- Click UCSB Pharmacy Refill Requests
- Fill in the requested information – note the option of choosing mail order delivery instead of picking up in person (We can only send to California addresses, and cannot ship to a PO Box)
An email will be sent to you confirming we received your message with further instructions if necessary
NOTE: controlled substances, aerosols, or refrigerated prescriptions cannot be mailed
Come into The Student Health Pharmacy
Bring your prescription bottle or have your prescription information with you.
NOTE: If there are no refills left on the prescription, the pharmacy staff will contact your provider. Please allow an additional 24 hours.
Tell your provider's office to send an e-script or FAX to 805-893-2736.
*Prescriptions will NOT be accepted from your personal fax machine
1. Send a message to the pharmacy through the MyHealth Portal.
2. Come by Student Health and bring your prescription container.
Make sure you have:
the name of the outside pharmacy,
pharmacy phone number,
and your prescription number or medication name
Charges for pharmacy items are placed on your BARC account. To ensure your privacy, charges on your BARC account are not itemized; your statement will only show “Student Health Service” and the total amount charged.
For students who do not have a BARC account, transactions can be charged to a credit card.
Over-the-Counter Medications

- Our Student Health Pharmacy offers a wide range of over-the-counter (OTC) medications available for purchase. All students, regardless of insurance, can access these products.
- We provide competitive pricing, often lower than other retailers, with all taxes included in the purchase price. Additionally, students can conveniently charge their purchases to their BARC account. Please note that prices are subject to change without notice.

Our normal hours of operation:
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
- Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM
- Closed for lunch: 12 PM and 1 PM
- For holiday hours and special events, please check the Student Health homepage.
No, however, you are welcome to fill your prescription at an outside pharmacy or pay the out-of-pocket cost here.
There is no difference between the medication cost with GAP insurance or waived insurance cost.
Yes, but you will need to inform us beforehand who will be picking up your prescription. They will need to provide your name, date of birth, and PERM number at the time of pickup.
We can mail prescriptions within the state of California. NOTE: We cannot mail controlled substances, aerosols, or refrigerated prescriptions.
- You must first establish care with a healthcare provider to get a prescription.
- You can schedule an appointment with a provider at Student Health by visiting the MyHealth Portal and select "Schedule an Appointment."

Yes, with provider approval. However some medications cannot be filled for more than 30 days.
Yes, we have COVID tests available for purchase. Individual tests are $5.
