Insurance

Important Information before January
●  If graduating fall quarter, make sure that you have insurance coverage after January 4 when your Gaucho Health Insurance ends.
●  Waiver deadline for winter quarter without incurring a late fee is December 14. You will be charged $50 for waivers submitted between December 15 and January 26 – no waiver requests will be accepted after January 26.  Only one waiver per academic year is required – if you have waived for fall quarter, you do not need to submit a new request.
●  A referral from Student Health Service or CAPS is not necessary to see a practitioner if you are more than 50 miles from UCSB.

Health Insurance

Health Insurance is mandatory for all UCSB registered students and a condition of enrollment. The Gaucho Health Insurance Plan (GHI) is a comprehensive medical insurance program offered to UCSB students. All registered students are automatically enrolled in GHI, but if you have comparable insurance and you do not want to keep GHI as dual coverage, you must submit a request to waive enrollment by the specified deadline.
