Sports Nutrition

Students engaging in sports or other athletic endeavors will likely have specific nutritional needs. Unfortunately, there are many who capitalize (make a lot of money) on the desire to improve athletic prowess. Below you will find a list of frequently asked questions about nutrition and athletics/sports.

I'm trying to build muscle, do I need a protein supplement/shake?

Usually, supplements are expensive and unnecessary. However, there are times when supplements/shakes may be convenient, possibly even needed. These exceptions are:

  • If you are on a limited calorie regimen (not recommended for most athletes)
  •  If you are short on time
