Interested in joining one of our peer health internships?
The UCSB peer health education program recruits
students who are interested in one of the following
groups:
Healthy Eating And
Living (HEAL)
Sex &
Relationships (S&R)
Students Teaching
Alcohol Responsibility (STAR)
To get involved:
1. Take one of our Health Education training classes which are listed by health topic thru the Education Department:
- ED191A Sex and Relationships
- ED191B Alcohol and Drugs
- ED191C Healthy Eating and Living
In these training classes you will learn how to be an effective peer health intern and the basics of the health topic you have chosen. Applications for these training classes are accepted on the first day of class.
2. At the end of the training class, you can apply for the peer health internship in which you were trained (S&R, STAR, HEAL). Applications for the internship must be submitted to your advisor by noon on the last day of instruction.
Students living in the Res Halls who would like to
become a peer educator can run for an elected position as a:
Health And Wellness Chairs (HAWC)
This position is elected each fall as a part of the
Residence Hall Association elections and they serve as a bridge
between Res Life and Health Education. There is one HAWC in each Res
Hall and they serve from Fall through the end of the school year.
